OCR: SUPERCHARGER TURBOSUPERCHARGER An air pump which raises the pressure at the engine (gas or diesel) intake, allowing more fuel and air to enter the engine. This increases engine power dramatically. The most common supercharger in use today is the exhaust turbine driven supercharger, or turbosupercharger, even though is has some delay or lag when large amounts of power are desired quickly as when passing other vehicles from a low speed. However, engine driven superchargers are also common in Drag Racers. Here the advantage of immediate low speed pressure boost outweighs the disadvantage of lower overall efficiency.
